Academic Writing Practice Test 1
Task 1 (chart description, 150 words) and Task 2 (discussion essay, 250 words). 60 minutes total.
How the hour is meant to be spent
- Task 1 — about 20 minutes, at least 150 words.
- Task 2 — about 40 minutes, at least 250 words. It carries twice the marks, so do not overrun on Task 1.
- One clock covers both tasks, as in the real test. Budgeting it is part of the skill.
- Nothing is auto-marked. After you submit you'll get a checklist built from the assessment criteria, plus the points a strong answer would cover.
